Liquor List
Please note: This is a list of non certified but 'Acceptable' items. What the means is that a verity or specific item has been investigated, and found not to be 'Non-Kosher', although the standards might not meet those required by reliable Kosher Certification Agencies. Regardless of popular belief - only a Certified Kosher Beverage can truly be considered 'Kosher'.
BEER: Domestic and Imported, unflavored & with no additives listed on the ingredient label including non-alcoholic and dark beers - are acceptable
Bourbon - in general all are Acceptable.
Brandy & Cognac - All require Full Kosher Certification as they are derived from wine.
Drink Mixes require Kosher certification.
Gin - unflavored is Acceptable. (Note: Sloe Gin is a liqueur and requires certification.)
Special Note: Bombay Brand Sapphire Gin is currently being reviewed for possible kashrus issues and is not recommended until further notice.
Juices - Require Kosher Certification.
Liqueurs - require certification. There are major brands that are certified kosher such as; Amaretto Disaronno, Cherry Heering, Starbucks, Godiva and many more.
Rum - requires certification. Bacardi (unflavored varieties) is acceptable without a kosher symbol on the label.
Rye - is Acceptable
Sake - Recommended only when Certified Kosher.
Scotch - we temporarily not listing any particular brand of scotch as being acceptable or not recommended.
Soju (Korean liquor) - requires certification
Tequila - White/Silver is Accepatable. Gold-Brown or Reposado tequila are not recommended without Kosher Certification.
Vermouth requires certification since it is made from wine.
Vodka - All Domestic (USA only) non-flavored vodka is acceptable. Imported vodka requires certification. Please Note: Some vodkas are made with grapes, and would need a reliable hashgacha.
Whiskey (including Canadian, Irish, Ryes) is Acceptable
Please note: There is a major dispute in the Rabbinic World as to the status of Whiskey that is aged in a wine cask, such as Sherry or Port, or aged in dual casks, European casks or French casks. These items should therefor be avoided as it is uncertain if these are kosher.
Whiskeys - Blended; are acceptable only with Kosher Certification.
The Following Whiskey's have been thouroughly investigated, and are currently acceptable: Jamesons Irish Whiskey, Kellan Irish Whiskey, Midleton Irish Whiskey, Paddy Irish Whiskey, Power Irish Whiskey, Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey (regular only), Canadian Club (regular only), Canadian Mist, Crown Royal (Original Only),Seagram’s (VO and 7 Canadian Blend only), Wiser’s.

The main outlet for Kosher food in Portland is Albertsons Market. The store is located within the SW area of Portland - the heart of the Jewish community.
The store features a full service kosher deli with Meat and Parve options, a Bakery that carries a wide variety of Breads, and both Parve and Dairy (Cholov Stam) baked goods. All items baked in the store are Pas Yisroel, and are labeled accordingly.

On Tuesday evenings the Cafe shuts down its dairy kitchen, and instead operates out of the catering kitchen, offering a spectacular meat menu.
